GENERAL PELVIC HEALTH

If this is your first time visiting the clinic, please book an initial assessment. As I have limited appointments available, please also book 3 follow-up appointments (45 minutes) at 2 week intervals. We can always change these appointments later on, but having them booked will ensure you have access to continuity of care.

PREGNANCY-RELATED PELVIC HEALTH

Book an initial assessment during your second trimester if you are not experiencing any symptoms or at any point during your pregnancy if you are experiencing pain, discomfort, or leaking.

If you are not experiencing any symptoms, you can book a follow-up appointment around 30 and 36 weeks. If you are experiencing symptoms, book 3 follow up appointments at 2 week intervals.

POSTPARTUM PELVIC HEALTH

If you are coping well in the early days, book an appointment between 6-7 weeks, a follow-up at 10 weeks, and a final follow up around 12-13 weeks postpartum. If any issues arise during that time, we can see each other more frequently.

If you are struggling between birth and 6 weeks postpartum, you can book either a virtual or in-person appointment. If you have trouble finding a time that works, please email me.

ORTHOPAEDIC AND DANCE PHYSIOTHERAPY

Luckily, nothing is ever TMI (too much information) in my treatment room and I love talking about the weird things that pelvises do.

My approach takes your entire self into consideration. Your pelvic health can be affected by mental health, physical health, and social aspects of your life. If a concern in these areas lies outside of my scope of practice, I’ll make sure to connect you with the right support. Good pelvic health takes a village!

My physiotherapy approach focuses on exercise, activity modification, and a bit of manual therapy to help you reach your goals. I have clinical expertise and evidence supporting the advice that I give you, but you are the expert on your own body. Physiotherapy should be a collaborative process and any plan we make will be personalized to fit into your life.

Alex started dancing at the age of 3 and fell in love with movement. She spent her childhood in the dance studio and on the stage, completing ballet exams and performing at local Festivals. She went on to complete a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts in Dance at York University in 2009. At York, she eagerly followed her classmates to their physiotherapy appointments and enjoyed studying for her anatomy exams. This love of movement (and anatomy) inspired a career in Physiotherapy.

Her treatment style focuses on education and exercise with an emphasis on what you can do at home to meet your goals. She has taken post-graduate courses in pilates and manual therapy and enjoys weaving those skills into her sessions with clients.

She is a Pelvic Health Physiotherapist with training in incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, and pelvic pain. She currently sits as Treasurer of the Board of Directors for Healthy Dancer Canada and is a member of the International Association of Dance Medicine and Science.
